Voice Chat lets you have natural spoken conversations with BlueClerk's AI assistant using your phone or computer's microphone. Speak your requests, and the AI responds with spoken audio - you can create customers, tickets, jobs, invoices, estimates, and perform all the same actions as text chat, but completely hands-free. Perfect for use on job sites or while driving.
How to Use Voice Chat
Starting a Voice Conversation
- Open the AI chat panel by clicking the sparkles icon in the header
- Click the microphone button at the bottom of the chat input
- Allow microphone access when your browser prompts you
- Speak your request - the AI transcribes and processes it
- Hear the AI response spoken aloud through your device speakers
What You Can Do
Voice chat has access to all the same tools as text chat:
- Create customers - "Add John Smith as a homeowner at 123 Main Street"
- Create tickets - "Create a ticket for Alice for pipe repair"
- Schedule jobs - "Schedule a job for tomorrow at 2pm for the leak at 456 Oak Ave"
- Send invoices - "Invoice John Smith for $250 for the HVAC tune-up"
- Search data - "Show me all jobs from last week"
- Check status - "Is the job at 789 Elm complete?"
Voice-Specific Features
Short Responses
The AI keeps responses brief and conversational for voice - 1-3 sentences max. You'll hear confirmations like "Done, ticket created" instead of lengthy explanations.
No Formatting
Responses are spoken in plain English without markdown, bullet points, or links. Perfect for listening while working.
Multi-Turn Conversations
Your conversation history is remembered across messages, so you can have back-and-forth exchanges:
- You: "Create a ticket for Alice"
- AI: "What's the work needed?"
- You: "Pipe repair in the kitchen"
- AI: "Got it, ticket created"
Credits & Limits
Each voice chat call uses 4 AI credits:
- 1 credit for Whisper transcription (speech-to-text)
- 2 credits for Claude AI processing (understanding and tools)
- 1 credit for TTS response (text-to-speech)
Credits are checked before the call starts, so you'll never run out mid-conversation.
Tips
- Speak clearly - The AI uses OpenAI Whisper for transcription, which is highly accurate
- Be specific - Include customer names, addresses, and amounts when creating records
- Ask follow-ups - The AI remembers the conversation context
- Use on job sites - Perfect for hands-free data entry while working

Q: What if I don't have enough credits? A: You'll see an error before the call starts. Upgrade your plan or wait for your monthly credit reset.
Q: Can I use voice chat on mobile? A: Yes, the web app supports voice chat on mobile browsers with microphone access.
Q: How long can conversations be? A: Voice conversations are capped at 10 messages (vs. 20 for text chat) to keep response times fast.
Q: What voice does the AI use? A: OpenAI's "nova" voice at 1.1x speed for clear, natural-sounding responses.
