Website Builder

Overview

The Website Builder lets you create a professional contractor website in minutes using AI. Answer a few questions about your business, let AI generate your content, preview and edit, then publish to a custom domain or BlueClerk subdomain. Your website includes your services, contact info, booking widget, and company branding - no coding required.

Accessing the Website Builder

1. Click "My Website" in the contractor sidebar (Globe icon)
2. Start the setup wizard if this is your first time
3. Edit or unpublish your existing site if already published

Creating Your Website

Step 1: Introduction

Review what the Website Builder creates for you:

• Standalone website with navigation, hero section, services grid, and booking widget
• Auto-populated with your company info, logo, and services from your profile
• Powered by AI content generation tailored to your business
• Custom domain support or free BlueClerk subdomain

Click "Get Started" to continue.

Step 2: Answer Questions

Provide information for AI content generation:

1. Areas served - Cities, counties, or regions you service
2. What sets you apart - Your differentiator, specialties, or unique value proposition
3. Tagline (optional) - Suggest a tagline or leave blank for AI to create one
4. Brand color - Choose your primary brand color (defaults to BlueClerk blue)

Click "Generate Content" when ready.

Step 3: Review & Edit

AI generates hero text and about section based on your answers:

• Hero text - Compelling 8-12 word headline for your homepage
• About section - 2-3 paragraphs describing your business (~150 words)
• Tagline - Short tagline (if you didn't provide one, AI creates it)

Edit the content directly in the preview pane:

• Click any text to edit inline
• Adjust hero text, about section, or tagline
• Preview updates in real-time on the right

Click "Publish Website" when satisfied.

Step 4: Published

Your website is live! You'll see:

• Site URL - Link to your live website
• View Site - Opens your website in a new tab
• Edit - Returns to the editor to change content
• Unpublish - Takes your site offline

• Stats section - Jobs completed and years in business
• Services grid - All services from your company profile with icons
• About section - Your AI-generated or custom about text
• Booking widget - Embedded iframe for customers to request work
• Footer - Contact info and "Powered by BlueClerk" attribution

Data Sources

The website pulls data from your existing company profile:

• Company name, logo, phone, email, address
• Trades/services offered
• Years in business
• Job count (completed jobs)

SEO & Branding

Each website includes:

• Proper page title with company name, trade, and location
• Meta description for search engines
• Server-side rendering (SSR) for better SEO
• Your brand colors for primary and accent elements

Custom Domain Support

Setting Up a Custom Domain

To use your own domain (e.g., www.yourcompany.com):

1. Purchase a domain from your domain registrar (GoDaddy, Namecheap, etc.)
2. Add a CNAME record pointing to app.blueclerk.com
3. Contact BlueClerk support with your domain name
4. We'll configure your site to serve from your custom domain

Default BlueClerk URL

Without a custom domain, your site is accessible at:

• https://app.blueclerk.com/pro/[your-company-slug]

Editing Your Website

Updating Content

1. Go to "My Website" in the sidebar
2. Click "Edit" button
3. Make changes to hero text, about section, or colors
4. Click "Save & Publish" to update your live site

Changes appear instantly on your published website.

Unpublishing

To take your website offline:

1. Go to "My Website" in the sidebar
2. Click "Unpublish"
3. Confirm when prompted

Your website is removed from public view. You can republish anytime by editing and clicking "Save & Publish" again.

Tips

• Complete your company profile first - Services, logo, and contact info auto-populate your website
• Use specific details - Better answers to the questions produce better AI content
• Edit AI content freely - Treat AI-generated text as a starting point and customize it
• Update regularly - Keep your about section current as your business grows
• Test the booking widget - Make sure customers can submit requests through your site

Questions

Q: Can I customize the website design or layout? A: Currently, the website uses a fixed template with customizable colors and content. More customization options may be added in future updates.

Q: Does the booking widget require customers to have a BlueClerk account? A: No, customers can submit job requests through the widget without creating an account.

Q: What happens to my website if I cancel my subscription? A: Your website will be unpublished if your subscription is canceled or becomes inactive.

Q: Can I see analytics for my website? A: Website analytics are not currently available but may be added in future updates. You can track job requests that come through the booking widget in your Operations dashboard.

Q: How do I update my services shown on the website? A: Edit your company profile services in Settings > Company Profile. Changes automatically appear on your website.
