Website Builder

Overview

The Website Builder lets you create a professional contractor website in minutes using AI. Answer a few questions about your business, let AI generate your content, preview and edit, then publish to a custom domain or BlueClerk subdomain. Your website includes your services, contact info, booking widget, and company branding - no coding required.

Accessing the Website Builder

1. Click "My Website" in the contractor sidebar (Globe icon)
2. Start the setup wizard if this is your first time
3. Edit or unpublish your existing site if already published

Creating Your Website

Step 1: Introduction

The wizard explains what information you'll need:

• Your services and service areas
• Company description and what makes you unique
• Contact preferences

Click "Next" to begin.

Step 2: AI Content Generation

Answer questions about your business:

• Services offered - What work do you do?
• Service areas - Where do you work?
• About your company - What makes you different?
• Contact preferences - How should customers reach you?

Click "Generate Website" and AI creates your content automatically.

Step 3: Preview & Edit

Review your generated website:

• Preview mode - See how it looks to visitors
• Desktop/Mobile toggle - Switch preview between desktop and mobile widths to check responsive layout
• Edit sections - Click any section to customize content
• Change theme - Pick from multiple design themes
• Add/remove sections - Customize your page structure

The mobile preview shows how your site will look on phones and tablets, letting you verify text readability, touch-friendly buttons, and responsive images before publishing.

Step 4: Domain Setup

Choose how to publish:

• BlueClerk subdomain - Free at yourcompany.blueclerk.com
• Custom domain - Use your own domain (requires DNS setup)

Step 5: Publish

Click "Publish Website" to make your site live. Your website is now viewable by customers and optimized for search engines.

Mobile Optimization

Every published website includes a mobile optimization card showing 8 green checkmarks:

• Responsive layout - Adapts to any screen size
• Touch-friendly buttons - Easy to tap on mobile devices
• Fast page load - Optimized images and code
• Mobile navigation - Collapsible menu for small screens
• Readable text - Properly sized fonts for mobile
• SEO meta tags - Search engine optimized
• Schema.org markup - Structured data for rich results
• Retina-ready images - Crisp on high-resolution displays

This card appears automatically on your published site to show visitors your website is mobile-optimized.

Editing Your Website

After publishing, you can make changes anytime:

1. Go to My Website
2. Click "Edit Website"
3. Make your changes in the builder
4. Preview on desktop and mobile using the toggle
5. Click "Publish Changes" to update your live site

Changes go live immediately after republishing.

Unpublishing

If you need to take your website offline:

1. Go to My Website
2. Click "Unpublish"
3. Confirm the action

Your website URL will show a "Site not found" message until you republish.

• Use high-quality photos of your work in the gallery section
• Keep your contact information up-to-date
• Preview on both desktop and mobile before publishing
• Update your website when you add new services
• Check mobile view to ensure buttons are easy to tap
• Include a clear call-to-action like "Request a Quote"

Q: Do I need a custom domain?
A: No - the free BlueClerk subdomain works great. Custom domains are optional for businesses that want their own branding.

Q: Can I edit the website after publishing?
A: Yes - edit anytime and republish to update your live site.

Q: How do I preview mobile layout?
A: Click the mobile/desktop toggle in the builder toolbar to switch between preview widths.

Q: Will my website work on phones?
A: Yes - all websites are fully responsive and optimized for mobile devices. The mobile optimization card shows all 8 mobile features are included.

Q: Can I add a booking form?
A: Yes - the website builder includes a booking widget section where customers can request quotes.

Q: How long does it take to publish?
A: Publishing is instant - your site goes live as soon as you click "Publish Website".
