Scheduling Tickets as a Subcontractor
Accept and schedule work that general contractors have dispatched to you
On this page
Overview
When a general contractor assigns a ticket to you, you'll see it in the Pending Tickets section at the top of your My Jobs page. You can schedule these tickets directly by picking a date and time - the customer, property, and scope are already locked in by the GC. Once scheduled, a job is created and the GC is notified automatically.
How It Works
Viewing Pending Tickets
- Log in to your contractor account
- Go to "My Jobs" in the navigation
- See the Pending Tickets section at the top if you have any assigned work
- Each ticket shows:
- Ticket number and dispatching contractor
- Customer name with phone/email contact buttons
- Property address with map pin icon
- Due date and work description
Scheduling a Ticket
- Click "Schedule" on any pending ticket
- Pick a date and time for the work
- Choose who will do the work (optional):
- Leave unassigned - The job defaults to you (the subcontractor on the GC's roster)
- Assign to your team member - Pick someone from your own crew
- Assign to your sub - Pick one of your own subcontractors
- Click "Schedule Job"
- The ticket becomes a job assigned to your company
- The GC is notified automatically
Assigning Work to Your Crew
When you schedule a ticket, you can assign the actual work to someone on your team or one of your own subs - just like the GC can assign to their crew or subs. This creates a multi-tier dispatch workflow:
Example: Phoenix is the sub on Norton's job. When Phoenix schedules the ticket, he can:
- Assign it to himself (default if no assignee is chosen)
- Assign it to Bob, a member of Phoenix Pro Works crew
- Assign it to another subcontractor on Phoenix's own roster
Validation: You can only assign to people who work for you:
- Team members of your company
- Subcontractors on your own roster
- You can't assign to someone else's crew
What Happens Next
After scheduling:
- Job is created with the date, time, and assignee you chose
- GC sees the job in their schedule
- You or your assignee can work the job like any other job - check in/out, take photos, complete work
- Payment flows to the GC - Money routing is unchanged (GC invoices their customer, then pays you)
Multiple Memberships
If you're a member of multiple contractor companies (like Bob being part of Phoenix Pro Works AND his own personal contractor account), you'll see jobs assigned to you from all companies in your "My Jobs" list. BlueClerk tracks all your memberships and shows you everything you're responsible for.
Tips
- Review details before scheduling - Make sure you understand the scope and have the right person available
- Contact the customer - Use the phone/email buttons if you need to confirm access or timing
- Assign to specialists - If the work requires specific skills, assign it to the right person on your team
- Check the map - Verify the location is in your service area before accepting
Questions
Q: What if I can't do the work on the requested date? A: Contact the GC through the ticket notes or by phone to discuss rescheduling before scheduling the job.
Q: Can I change who's assigned after scheduling? A: Yes - open the job and reassign it to a different team member or sub just like any other job assignment.
Q: What if I don't have anyone available? A: You can schedule the job assigned to yourself and handle it personally, or contact the GC to decline if you truly can't accommodate.
Q: Does the GC see who I assigned the work to? A: Yes - the GC can see the assignee in their jobs list, just like they can see assignments for their own direct jobs.
