Automatic SEO for Contractor Websites
Every website gets automatic SEO optimization including sitemap, robots.txt, structured data, and social meta tags
Overview
When you publish your contractor website, BlueClerk automatically generates all the technical SEO features search engines and social media platforms need. Sitemap, robots.txt, structured data, OpenGraph tags, and canonical URLs are all created from your company data - you don't configure anything.
What Gets Generated Automatically
Sitemap.xml
A sitemap helps Google and other search engines discover and index your pages:
- Auto-generated at
https://yourdomain.com/sitemap.xml - Updates automatically when you republish your website
- Includes your homepage and booking section with priority rankings
- Last modified date tracked from your last publish
Robots.txt
Tells search engines which pages they can crawl:
- Auto-generated at
https://yourdomain.com/robots.txt - References your sitemap automatically
- Allows all pages to be indexed by default
Schema.org Structured Data
LocalBusiness JSON-LD structured data helps search engines understand your business:
- Business name and phone number
- Service area (city and state)
- Trades you offer as services
- Address information
- Logo and branding
This can help your business appear in Google's Local Pack and Knowledge Graph.
OpenGraph Meta Tags
When someone shares your website on Facebook, Twitter, or LinkedIn, these tags control how it looks:
- Page title - Your company name and primary trade
- Description - Professional services tagline with location
- Image - Your company logo
- URL - Your custom domain or BlueClerk subdomain
Canonical URL
Tells search engines which URL is the "official" version of your page:
- Auto-set to your custom domain if connected
- Falls back to BlueClerk subdomain if no custom domain
- Prevents duplicate content issues if your site is accessible from multiple URLs
