Overview

Creating a BlueClerk account is your first step toward streamlining your contracting business. Whether you're a contractor looking to manage jobs and customers, a homeowner seeking reliable service providers, or a builder managing warranty work, BlueClerk has you covered.

Step-by-Step Instructions

Sign Up with Email

  1. Visit the sign-up page - Go to app.blueclerk.com and click "Sign Up"

  2. Choose your account type - Select what describes you best:

    • Homeowner - Individual property owner
    • Individual Contractor - Self-employed tradesperson
    • Contractor Company - Contracting business with employees
    • Builder - Home builder or construction company
  3. Enter your information:

    • Full name - Your first and last name
    • Email address - Used for login and notifications
    • Password - Must be at least 8 characters
    • Phone number (optional) - For SMS notifications
  4. Agree to terms - Check the box to accept Terms of Service and Privacy Policy

  5. Click "Create Account"

  6. Verify your email - Check your inbox for a verification link and click it

Sign Up with Google

If you prefer using your Google account:

  1. Visit the sign-up page - Go to app.blueclerk.com

  2. Click "Continue with Google"

  3. Choose your Google account - Select which Google account to use

  4. Grant permissions - Allow BlueClerk to access your basic profile info

  5. Choose your account type - Select Homeowner, Contractor, or Builder

  6. Complete your profile - Add any additional required information

Your account is created automatically using your Google email and name.

What Happens Next

For Contractor Companies

After creating your account:

  • Complete the onboarding wizard with company details and services
  • Set up your company profile and logo
  • Add team members if needed
  • Connect Stripe to accept payments (optional)
  • Start creating tickets and jobs

For Homeowners

After creating your account:

  • Add your property address
  • Browse available contractors
  • Post job requests to the marketplace
  • Track work history at your home

For Builders

After creating your account:

  • Add your subdivisions
  • Import properties
  • Set up contractor relationships
  • Start managing warranty work

Managing Your Account

Profile Settings

Access your profile settings anytime:

  1. Click your profile icon in the top-right corner
  2. Select "My Profile"
  3. Update your name, email, phone, or password

Changing Your Email

To change your account email:

  1. Go to My Profile
  2. Click "Change Email" in the Email section
  3. Verify your current email - Check your inbox and click the verification link
  4. Enter your new email - Provide the new email address
  5. Confirm your new email - Check the new inbox and click the confirmation link
  6. Email updated - Your account now uses the new email for login and notifications

This 3-step process ensures secure email changes by verifying both your old and new addresses.

Connected Accounts

If you signed up with email but want to connect Google:

  1. Go to My Profile
  2. Find the "Connected Accounts" section
  3. Click "Connect Google"
  4. Authorize the connection

You can then log in with either your email/password or Google account.

If you signed up with Google and want to set a password:

  1. Go to My Profile
  2. Find the "Change Password" section
  3. Click "Set Password" (since you don't have one yet)
  4. Enter and confirm your new password

Now you can log in with email/password or continue using Google.

Switching Account Types

If you signed up as the wrong account type:

  1. Contact support via the chat widget
  2. Provide your current and desired account type
  3. Support will migrate your account

Note: Some data may not transfer between account types (e.g., homeowner properties won't transfer to contractor accounts).

Troubleshooting

Email Already Exists

If you see "Email already registered":

  • You may have created an account previously
  • Try the "Forgot Password" link to reset your password
  • Check if you signed up with Google instead

Verification Email Not Received

If you don't receive the verification email:

  • Check your spam/junk folder
  • Make sure you entered the correct email address
  • Click "Resend verification email" on the login page
  • Wait a few minutes - emails can be delayed

Google Sign-In Issues

If Google sign-in isn't working:

  • Make sure pop-ups are enabled in your browser
  • Try a different browser or incognito/private mode
  • Clear your browser cache and cookies
  • Check that you're using a Google account (not Microsoft or other provider)

Questions

Q: Can I use the same email for multiple account types? A: No, each email address can only be associated with one BlueClerk account. If you need multiple account types, use different email addresses.

Q: Is my data secure? A: Yes. BlueClerk uses industry-standard encryption for all data. Passwords are hashed and never stored in plain text. Google sign-in uses OAuth 2.0 for secure authentication.

Q: Can I delete my account? A: Yes. Contact support via the chat widget to request account deletion. Note that this action is permanent and cannot be undone.

Q: Do I need a credit card to sign up? A: No. Contractor companies get a 30-day free trial with no credit card required. You'll only be asked for payment details after your trial ends.

Q: What if I forget my password? A: Click "Forgot Password" on the login page, enter your email, and follow the reset link sent to your inbox.

Overview

Your profile settings control your personal account information - name, email, phone, password, and connected login methods. Access these settings to keep your contact info current, change your email, update your password, or connect your Google account.

  1. Click your profile icon in the top-right corner
  2. Select "My Profile" from the dropdown

Changing Your Email Address

BlueClerk uses a secure 3-step process to change your account email:

  1. Click "Change Email" in the Email section
  2. Step 1: Verify current email
    • Check your current email inbox
    • Click the verification link in the email
  3. Step 2: Enter new email
    • Provide your new email address
    • Submit the form
  4. Step 3: Confirm new email
    • Check your new email inbox
    • Click the confirmation link
  5. Email updated - You can now log in with your new email

This process ensures:

  • You own the current email (can receive the verification)
  • You own the new email (can receive the confirmation)
  • No one can change your email without access to both addresses

Why Email Changes Are Secure

The 3-step verification prevents:

  • Unauthorized email changes by someone who gained access to your account
  • Typos that would lock you out of your account
  • Email changes to addresses you don't control
