Job Notes and Photos
What to Include in Job Notes
A simple checklist for writing useful job notes that help with estimates, invoices, and follow-up work.
What to Include in Job Notes
Good job notes do not need to be long. They need to be useful.
A short note that captures the real work is better than a polished paragraph that leaves out the important details.
Good Job Notes Usually Include
- What the job was
- What was found
- What was done
- What was approved
- What still needs attention
- Any parts or materials used
- Any photos added
Example
Weak note:
Fixed issue.
Useful note:
Replaced broken outlet cover, checked nearby wiring, and confirmed everything was working after install. Customer approved final result.
The second note gives future context.
Why Notes Matter
Job notes help with:
- Estimates
- Invoices
- Customer messages
- Follow-up work
- Internal handoffs
If the team relies on memory, details get fuzzy fast.
